Our 2009 pinot from the Niagara region shows a slightly richer, rounder feel than our Prince Edward County reds, with an almost Californian nose of plum, dark cherry, spice – and elegant floral notes wafting through as the wine opens up. The mouth shows good length and amplitude, with some interesting roasted notes and a smooth finish that makes this wine already pleasant for immediate drinking. Flavorful, easy-going, it is also worthy of a few years in the cellar.
Reviews:
"This is quite classic Ontario pinot – made by Deborah Paskus in PEC with fruit from a grower in Niagara. There is not a lot of colour depth or concentration, so I expect it will age fairly quickly. But no need to wait either as there is already evolving woodsy, smoky character amid the cherry fruit. It's light to medium bodied, fairly supple and dry with easy tannin and very good length. Best through 2015. Tasted March 2012." Score: 88 points

"This is an engaging and intriguing pinot noir, one that requires some effort to dig out its secrets. When first opened, it was quite awkward and volatile, yet with several hours of air, even a couple of days after opening, blossomed into a very fine and refined wine. The texture is rich and smooth, with bright but well-integrated acidity and silky tannins, while the range of flavours includes juicy cran-cherry raspberry, both resinous herbs and sweet baking spice, as well as other savoury, umami, wood derived notes. There's evident concentration and richness, amazingly enough at only 12.9% alcohol, while the finish linger nicely. Decant 1-2 hours ahead of time. Best 2012-2016. Tasted March 2012." Score: 90 points

"Obviously complex and engaging, this intriguing Pinot Noir shows enough volatile acidity for concern initially but on the palate it is arguably within the limits of acceptability. A lovely floral element weaves its way throughout the nose and across the broad palate. Peppery with delicate exotic spice, walnut, cherry, cedar along with dried wild herbs and a salty finish. Beginning to show graceful maturation and is likely drinking at its best now and into the near future. Tasted March 2012." Score: 89 points
